Following our successful fundraising efforts last year, Steve Darling, the CAAC Equipment Officer reports that we have a full set of throws equipment for the season.

The next items on the agenda are Starting Blocks. The club is hoping to receive a grant to assist with this purchase.
Under the 2002/2003 Regional and Club Development Grants Program our club was lucky enough to receive funding of $2000, from the NT Dept. for Community Development, Sport & Cultural Affairs to purchase a laptop computer. Greg Neck from Murray Neck Homeworld (Betta Electrical Division) helped us to stretch that amount to include the extended warranty necessary for this type of equipment. His generosity and support is greatly appreciated
The laptop will be used for record keeping and administration.
Congratulations to Steve Darling for winning the Don Dick award for Services to Northern Territory Athletics.
Anne Kidman received the 2002 Coaches Award, donated by Noel Harris, for her dedication and persistence. The work certainly paid dividends when Anne won her bag load of medals in the Alice Springs Masters Games.
With a number of regular participants the Tuesday twilight meetings have got into a rhythm and participants have been able to further develop the skills acquired in training. It is early days so we anticipate some worthy results by the end of the season. Tuesday, 29 April will be the last twilight meeting for the season due to fading light in the evening. Lack of adequate lighting at Rhonda Diano is an ongoing issue.
This will commence with the first Interclub competition for the season (see next article). However, on non-interclub weeks, the club intends to hold competition after the Junior athletes - with warm-up from 4.00 p.m. and events commencing at 4.30 p.m.
After the success of the cross-territory Interclub Track and Field Competition last season, NTA has decided to continue the practice in 2003. The Senior clubs have decided to make their competition a little less formal. This is due to the disparity of track conditions and weather.
The three (3) Interclub competition dates are 10 May (commencing at 1 p.m), 31 May and 2 August.
Mark you calendars! The club already has several members planning to participate this year. We would like to show our colours.
Bad for one’s health and ability to relax. Besides it interferes with the time available for track work and training!!!!

This is underway in earnest – remember, we cater for all levels of fitness and our coaches are happy to develop individual programs.
