Nomination
forms for the intercentre shield on the 31/5/03 in katherine are available from the help desk from next week.
Nominations close 23/5/03.
Courses:
Stop press: we have been sent notification that we
have received funding to the value of $1400 from the dept of sport and rec to
assist in the participation in the courses.
Secondly, if
we cannot get more assistance in these areas then we will have to schedule
training for specific age groups, for example, 6 – 8 in week 1, 9 – 11 week 2
etc, which will ultimately lead to the children only training once a month.
The coaching
courses were cancelled due to lack of numbers. We have been advised that we can
do these courses via correspondence, please

Thankyou to those people who have shown interest in the course. The
Knowledge
gained from these courses will benefit immensley and ensure the longevity of
our centre. We need more coaching
assistance from parents for a centre of our size.

Intercentre Shield
Round 2 will be
held in Katherine on the weekend of the 31st May 2003 from 1 – 6pm.
The Interclub
in Katherine is a great day trip or weekend away. The community of Katherine
looks forward to us coming and the experience strengthens Club/Centre
relationships. It is a great opportunity for our centre to gain competition
points towards the Interclub Trophy as well.
A bus will be
available at a cost of $25.00 per head, please let the help desk know if you
are interested so we can book if necessary.
NORTH
QUEENSLAND:
We
require a volunteer to be the "Fundraising Convenor" for our
Nth Qld Athletes. The person will be responsible to help raise funds for the
trip this year. The funds raised will go towards Air flights to Qld, we have
estimated that each athlete will need approx $1200 each. We have already
received from ANGLOGOLD (a major sponsor of athletes) a donation of $1875. This
will be a great kick start for our team to compete, however the parents of
children 12 and up will be required to fundraise the rest.
